Women Int’l Quran Contest Launched in Dubai

IQNA – Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is hosting the 8th edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak international Quran competition for women.

The 8th edition of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak international Quran competition for women was launched in Dubai on September 7, 2024.

 

The competition got underway in a ceremony on Saturday, attended by a number of political and religious officials, according to al-Ittihad website.

It began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by tminent Egyptian qari Sheikh Abdul Fattah al-Taruti.

Then Salim Muhammad al-Doubi, chairman addressed the ceremony, highlighting the greatness of the Quran and the status of Quran memorizers.

Al-Doubi also commended the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak competition, saying it has turned into a major event in the field of Quranic activities for women.  

A total of 60 Quran memorizers from various countries are taking part in this edition of the competition.

The first day saw the performance of contenders from 11 countries, namely Myanmar, the Central African Republic, Somalia, Ghana, Togo, Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso, the Philippines, Eritrea and Rwanda.

The contest will run until September 13 at the Cultural and Scientific Association in Dubai
